Treasure: Horse Mountains, New Mexico

Recommended Posts

Caballo Mountains – Also called Horse Mountains, the peaks are located about 35 miles north of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Supposedly, gold bars, silver, and jewels were  buried by a spring under the big rocks of Cabello Canyon. The buried treasure trove was said to have been stolen from the Chihauhua-Spanish by the Indians during the Indian uprisings.

The Indians having no need for the treasure, carted the goods by horse and mule to the hiding spot after their murderous raids.
